For over 30 years, Dr. Janice Presser has been engaged in research and development of teaming science and team analytics, with a focus on developing more effective business teams. (See TeamingScience.com.) She has studied how healthcare teams service those in need, how families team with each other, and how organizations enable (or inhibit) human synergy in the workplace. All of these pursuits have had, at their core, the desire to understand what really happens between people.
Dr. Presser is the architect of the technology that measures how people interact - Teamability® - and is a thought leader in leadership, team management, and human infrastructure. She has authored seven books on various aspects of teaming, as well as dozens of articles, guest commentaries, and other writings. Her speaking engagements include keynote, seminar, and workshop presentations for public and private events, and she is also a frequent guest on webcasts and podcasts. She speaks on topics including human development, innovation and entrepreneurship, leadership, teamwork, talent science, career development, inclusion, spatial computing, and team analytics.
Dr. Presser has served on SHRM’s Human Capital Assessment/Metrics Special Expertise Panel, the Taskforce on Workforce Planning, and also the Taskforce on Metrics and Measurements. She is Contributing Editor for Selection in ELLA®, Employment Labor Law Audit. A behavioral scientist by training, Dr. Presser has filled various positions in diverse industries, including stints as the HR director of a sports memorabilia company and as president of a sheet metal manufacturing company, as well as being a family therapist. She is a frequent contributor to the digital world, a member of Constellation Research’s Orbits group, and maintains her blog at DrJanicePresser.com.
In addition to having served as adjunct faculty and dissertation consultant for several institutions, Dr. Presser has also been a forensic consultant and expert witness in cases involving civil rights, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, ethical professional practice, and related matters. She has served on numerous boards and was Chairman of the Board of The Gabriel Institute.
Dr. Presser holds a B.A. in Psychology from CCNY, B.S. in Nursing from Columbia University, M.A. in Psychology from Hunter College and Ph.D. from The Union Institute & University, where her dissertation was on Optimal, Growth-Promoting Relationships. Her post-doctoral training was at the Institute for Comprehensive Family Therapy.
Dr. Presser continues to invent, consult, speak, and write and has no intention of stopping. She has recently become a regular contributor to ION: Better Living Through Technology, a monthly Sunday newspaper supplement distributed throughout the US by Gannett/Gatehouse. Her interests include classic rock videography and political discourse.
